announced today that it reached a company milestone in 2011 with zero Occupational Safety
and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable injuries.
“Employee and customer safety is a top priority,” said Western Aircraft’s Manager of
Environmental Health and Safety Miguel Velasco. “We are focused on continuous improvement
and training to develop a high-level sustaining safety program.”
According to OSHA, the national average DART (Days Away, Restrictions and Transfers) rate
for 2011 is 1.8 and Western Aircraft documented a Dart rate of 0.0 for 2011.
Since 2006, Western Aircraft has been granted the OSHA Safety and Health Achievement
Recognition Program (SHARP) award, for its exemplary safety and training program. SHARP
recognizes employers with less than 250 employees who operate excellent safety and health
management systems. It is one of the highest awards OSHA can give to a small company.
