Western Aircraft, a Greenwich AeroGroup company, recently completed its first Garmin G5000 Integrated Flight Deck installation on a Beechjet 400A aircraft.
The retrofit to the avionics suite features dual touchscreen display/controllers with an intuitive interface, three 12-inch LCD displays including Synthetic Vision, Electronic Charts and XM weather. The retrofit also provides WAAS/LPV capability and ADS-B Out, which complies with the Federal Aviation Administration’s ADS-B mandate of December 31, 2019.
“This innovative technology really breathes new life into the airplane,” said Western Aircraft’s Avionics Sales and Business Development Manager Walt Marcy. “In addition to its standard features, it also offers customers a variety of customizable options to suit their needs.”
Mr. Marcy added that the Oregon-based aircraft was equipped with the non-supported AMS-850 flight management system (FMS) and that it made more sense to upgrade with new technology than seek out a replacement aircraft or FMS-only upgrade. The new installation also includes a new, integrated autopilot, a full radio package retrofit and turbulence detection radar.
According to Garmin, the G5000 flight deck for the Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP is estimated to provide a typical weight savings of approximately 200 pounds or more compared to legacy avionics systems, allowing additional baggage, passenger and fuel load flexibility.
Western Aircraft is a Garmin Authorized dealer providing avionics solutions from panel mount products to fully integrated cockpit solutions.
