Greenwich AeroGroup – November 2009– Two Greenwich AeroGroup companies, Western Aircraft in Boise,
Idaho and Atlantic Aero in Greensboro, North Carolina recently
received the FAA Special Recognition Diamond Certificate of
Excellence Award. The FAA Special Recognition Diamond
Certificate of Excellence Award is an acknowledgement of
Greenwich AeroGroup companies’ commitment to technical training
and expertise.
Greenwich AeroGroup professes that a well trained work force
yields returns regardless of the stage of the economy. In support of
this, both Western Aircraft and Atlantic Aero continue to focus their
training efforts on safety, new technology, new capabilities, best
maintenance practices, design changes and regulatory compliance
requirements that affect the model aircraft they specialize on. Each
facility houses training adaptable rooms where theoretical classes
are routinely conducted by system and regulatory experts, certified
training providers and key suppliers. Additionally, many
Technicians are sent to Flight Safety and to OEM’s training programs for maintenance training every year. Also
worthy of noting is the formal OJT (on job training)
curriculums that both locations have adopted. The OJT
program enables individual technicians to benefit from the
overall knowledge of the organization through a formal
system that builds knowledge credits system by system.
The blended training approach allows each location to
modulate training cost while sustaining progress and to
consistently leverage slower workload periods for training
with little to no lead time. These efforts continue to enable
higher levels of safety, proficiency as well as more
thoroughness while carrying out maintenance and
modification tasks at both locations.
The consistency of these efforts has led both companies to repeatedly receive the diamond award over the last 5
consecutive years with a consolidated average of over 9000 hours of training per year.
